Canada joins program to protect Ukraine in cyberspace
The Tallinn Mechanism will help counter Russian aggression.
In response to Russia's war of aggression, Ukraine's 10 allied countries have united to create the so-called Tallinn Mechanism. It should help the state with self-defense in cyberspace. In addition, the support of different states will be coordinated in this way. The mechanism includes an Estonian front office in Kiev and a Polish back office in Warsaw.
This mechanism is designed to interact on a regular basis with other donor initiatives related to conflict coordination and resolution. In addition to Canada, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States are participating in the project.
The mechanism's activities are carried out in compliance with international law and in full coordination with Ukrainian colleagues. Member States also intend to work with the EU and NATO. Non-governmental structures are also invited to contribute.
