Canada sends humanitarian aid to affected Israelis and Palestinians
The official position of the state regarding civilians was announced.
Canada's Minister of International Development, Ahmed Hussen, announced that Canada is providing CA$ 10 million in humanitarian assistance to those affected by the crisis in Israel, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. The Canadian authorities took this decision in response to recent appeals from experienced and reliable humanitarian partners.
These partners include the Canadian Red Cross and its collaborating Palestine Red Crescent Society and Magen David Adom. These organizations will receive a portion of the allocated money. A detailed report on the allocation of funds to specific partners will be published in the coming days.
Globally, the funding will go to provide food, water, emergency medical care, protection services and other vital aid. Canada will make sure that the money does not fall into the hands of Hamas.
"We continue to call for safe and unrestricted humanitarian access to be allowed throughout the region," Ahmed Hussen emphasized.
Canada's position on all civilians is unequivocal and unwavering. The safety and well-being of the population must be the first priority. Canada calls on all parties to the conflict to respect international humanitarian law, which, among other things, includes unconditional admission of humanitarian assistance.
