Another distribution of temporary work permits

New invitations for the Canadian equivalent of Work and Travel have been sent out.

The International Experience Canada (IEC) program, known as Canada's equivalent of Work and Travel, has sent out 4,955 invitations in the past 2 weeks as part of a new round of selection. All of them are in the Working Holiday category, which is the category that grants open work permits for 1 to 24 months. This visa does not require an invitation from the employer, but IEC has other restrictions.

In particular, residents of only 33 countries can apply, which does not include Russia, Belarus or Kazakhstan — but does include Ukraine. In addition, the program is designed as a youth program and stipulates specific age limits for applicants: from 18 to 35 years old. You can read more about IEC in our review.

In 2023, IEC invitation updates have been coming in every week, and only last week was an exception. In addition to the 4,955 people who qualified in the Working Holiday category, 316 candidates in the Young Professionals category received invitations. To apply in this category, you must already have a job offer in Canada (a signed letter or employment contract), so those who qualify receive a work permit that is linked to their employer
