Green streets: How Canada celebrated St. Patrick

There were festive parades in the cities and green beer flooded all the pubs

Last week Canada held its traditional St. Patrick's Day parades and festivals. The holiday was on Friday, so the festive events lasted all the weekend: from March 17 to March 19. Parades were held in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and other cities.

The streets of Toronto were blocked to perform the annual parade: thousands of participants were marching through the city carrying Canadian and Irish flags, musicians were performing live, and dancers were hopping traditional Irish dances. 5 000 people took part in the parade totally. Pubs across the country organized contests and concerts and offered tinted green beer to everybody.

During the holidays police reminded safety rules: not to climb on roofs, not to break glass and respect other participants celebrating the holiday. Many universities also recalled their students to take care of their health and not drink too much of alcohol.
