Children in Canada have dental insurance coverage

"News worth smiling about," Justin Trudeau wrote on his Twitter page.

More than 200,000 children will now be able to get the dental care they need. That's thanks to Dental Benefit provided by the Government of Canada.

This benefit is intended to help lower dentist prices for eligible families earning less than $90,000 CAD a year.

Parents and guardians will be able to use it if their child needing dental treatment is under 12 years old and does not have access to a private dental insurance plan.

Depending on your adjusted taxable family income, a tax-free payment of $260, $390 or $650 will be available for each child.

This interim dental benefit will be in effect until the Canadian government develops a long-term dental care program.
