Canada will pay $650 CAD for dental care for children
The measure will be adopted as part of the assistance to families with low budgets.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau plans to announce new measures to combat inflation, including dental care for low-income families, a one-time benefit for low-income renters and a temporary increase in GST credit.
Under the proposed law, the government would allocate money to pay for dental appointments for children under 12 directly to families who earn $90,000 CAD or less. Low— and middle-income parents would be expected to receive $650 CAD a year for two years for each child to pay for dental appointments.
The payments will be a temporary measure designed to support low-income families while the government develops a permanent dental care program. The option of issuing personal cards to be presented at appointments, which clinics would use to bill the authorized bodies themselves, is also being considered.
Details of this and other innovations will be officially announced after September 19, when parliament resumes its work.
