Canada's New Environmental Initiative

Canada

The first investment will be $1.4 million CAD.

The Canadian government is actively involved in the development of clean technologies that play an important role in the Canadian agricultural sector's fight against climate change.

Francis Drouin, parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, announced an investment of more than $1.4 million CAD to support the next phase of SixRing Inc's development: the company has developed a mechanism for a low-energy process to convert agricultural waste into renewable fuel and sustainable advanced materials.

As part of the Clean Agricultural Technology Program, this investment in patented SixRing technology will allow the company to significantly expand its production through research and development. This phase of development will also include intensive testing of underutilized raw materials and production efficiencies to optimize the company's technology. Using this low-carbon agricultural waste management solution will help significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and generate additional revenue for farms across the country.

In his statement, Francis Drouin stressed:

"The agriculture sector is working hard to propel climate action to build a healthy future for Canada. Under the Agricultural Clean Technology program, this investment in SixRing Inc. will ensure our farmers grow their profits and protect our environment."

The 2030 Emissions Reduction Plan, announced in March 2022, highlights the actions needed to reduce emissions in various sectors of the economy. Steps taken by businesses to comply with the regulations will complement investments and other measures taken by the Canadian government to combat climate change and strengthen Canada's clean economy.

Along with the launch of the Plan, the Canadian government has allocated an additional $330 million CAD to the Clean Agriculture Technology Program, tripling its support for innovation and the development and adoption of clean technologies in the agricultural sector.
