Freedom Convoy will return to Canada

A new wave of protests is planned for Canada Day

Ottawa police are stepping up law enforcement in Ottawa — It has been learned that on Canada Day, July 1, 2022, there will be protests related to the Freedom Convoy in the capital, which could threaten a large crowd.

Freedom Convoy, which was the cause of many mass rallies earlier this year, plans to hold protest events throughout the summer. Previously, several groups belonging to the "Convoy" held similar actions throughout the year, which became a serious challenge for law-enforcement agencies.

The protests are expected to begin on June 30, when a march by James Topp, protesting oppose retention of COVID-19 vaccination certificates, will end at the National War Memorial in Ottawa.

Police in Canada's capital city say they plan to increase law enforcement presence on the streets, close off roads, and bring in other services to protect the city's security. Representatives say they are doing so to ensure the safety and peace of Canadians and visitors on holiday.

"We will not allow a repeat of the conditions that led to the illegal protests in February. We are applying the lessons learned from them to build our plan," the police said in a statement.
