Hurricane in Ontario and Quebec

There are fatalities. More than 250,000 homes were left without electricity.

On Saturday, the provinces of Ontario and Quebec were hit by a storm and hail the size of a two-dollar coin (its diameter 28 mm). Winds reached 100 km/h. Strong winds with hail and freezing rain are quite common in Canada, but the coastal provinces are more often affected by storms.

Although Environment Canada sent out a warning text message in advance, people continued boating.

Storm warning for May 21, 2022

One woman drowned in the Ottawa River when her boat capsized. Emergency services received a report of a sailboat in Humber Bay (part of Lake Ontario) attempting to come ashore, but so far no boat or people from it have been located. The other victims of the hurricane suffered from fallen trees. The photos below were taken in Ottawa, Canada's capital city.
