The status of the application for permanent residence in Canada can now be tracked online

Officials hope there will be no more delays in consideration.

On February 8, 2022, the Immigration, Citizenship and Refugee Canada (IRCC) launched a new online tracker to track the status of permanent residence applications. For now, only those who have been invited by next of kin and those who have invited them can use this option.

Permanent residents and citizens of Canada have the right to bring spouses, partners, and dependent children into the country under family sponsorship programs. The sponsor agrees to support the relative for three to twenty years, depending on the situation.

Now the Department of Immigration has managed to shorten the processing time for spousal reunification applications to the established standard of 12 months. In the near future, they promise to provide an online case status tracking service for all other categories of applicants as well.
