Earlier, Canada imposed similar restrictions.

On January 22, new measures went into effect in the United States, requiring that all travelers crossing the land border be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. This applies to tourists as well as those traveling for good reason. The COVID-19 test is not required.

At the border crossing point, travelers must show proof of vaccination with one of the U.S. approved drugs, and be prepared to provide other documents that border officials may request.

As of January 2022, the states recognize the following vaccines:

  • Pfizer;
  • Moderna;
  • Johnson & Johnson.

The new rules do not apply to U.S. citizens and residents.

Earlier, on January 15, Canada also required all travelers, with few exceptions, to provide evidence of vaccination at border crossings. The measures applied to those coming from the U.S. via the land border, among others.
