Canada will process work visa applications automatically

The data analysis system can determine whether a candidate qualifies for a visa.

Immigration and Citizenship Canada has automated the processing of work visa applications. Extended data analysis tools will be used for this purpose.

The technology is expected to help process the growing number of applications faster. The system will determine whether an applicant qualifies for a work visa and sort applicants according to their "difficulty" level. For example, "simple" applicants will be those who have been in Canada for the past 10 years, while "complex" applicants will be those who have been out of the ordinary.

The Department of Immigration emphasizes that visa officers will continue to make the final decisions on approval or denial. The system will only do preliminary processing and sorting of applications.

Such technology is now used by the ministry for the countries from which the largest number of visa applications come. It is estimated that it speeds up the processing of documents by 87%.
