Do you know where Trinidad and Tobago is? Ever heard of Barbados? It's the island nation where the parents of future Canadian champion Andre DeGrasse were born.
Andre's ancestors immigrated to Canada and gave opportunities for a better life to their son, who grew up already in the suburbs of Toronto. His name will go down in history for several reasons:
1️⃣ This is the first Canadian sprinter to win THREE medals at one Olympics
2️⃣ In the past 25 years, this is the first gold? Canada in athletics
3️⃣ Is this the first gold medal? Canada's first gold medal in the 200m in 93 years.
De Grasse has won medals at every Olympic and World Athletics Championships in which he has participated.
Canada, go!
