Canada will soon receive its first batch of a new vaccine

It was approved almost 2 months ago, but no deliveries yet.

The Canadian government has announced that 1.9 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine will be delivered to the country this week. This will include 300,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson, a drug that was approved back in early March.

The supply will also include 1 million doses of Pfizer and 600,000 doses of Moderna. AstraZeneca's deliveries are not scheduled for the near future, but last week, Procurement Minister Anita Anand said authorities were in talks with the U.S. to obtain additional doses of the drug.

AstraZeneca is in high demand after several provinces lowered the age for vaccination with the drug to 40+ years. In the US, there are currently tens of millions of doses of AstraZeneca that are not being used because the vaccine is not approved in the country.
