Canada's minimum wage increased in 4 provinces at once

And 7 more provinces are expected to see increases in the coming months.

On April 1, several Canadian provinces increased their minimum hourly wage each year. Wages in the following regions (shown in Canadian dollars) were increased again:

  • New Brunswick is $11.75;
  • Nova Scotia — $12.95;
  • Prince Edward Island — $13;
  • Yukon is $13.85.

This year, 7 more provinces are expected to see increases:

  • Quebec — May 1 to $13.50;
  • British Columbia — June 1 to $15.20;
  • Northwest Territories — Sept. 1 to $15.20;
  • Newfoundland and Labrador — Oct. 1 to $12.75;
  • Ontario — Oct. 1 to $14.35;
  • Manitoba — October 1, size unknown (now $11.90);
  • Saskatchewan — October 1, size unknown (now $11.45).

In Alberta and Nunavut, the minimum rates are still unchanged at $15 and $16 per hour, respectively.
