A man fell out of an airplane at the Toronto airport

The passenger himself opened the emergency exit before takeoff.

Air Canada is conducting an internal investigation into an unusual incident. A passenger during the preparation for takeoff of flight AC056 from Toronto to Dubai suddenly opened the aircraft door and fell out onto the runway at Pearson Airport.

The company confirmed that it happened on Monday and that the passenger, instead of taking his seat, suddenly walked to the emergency exit and opened it. After the fall, the victim needed help and the emergency services and police were immediately called to the scene.

Due to the incident, the flight with 319 registered passengers was delayed, but after some time successfully departed on the route. Air Canada representatives said they were investigating the causes of the incident:

"We can confirm all of our approved boarding and cabin operating procedures were followed."

It remains unknown for now why the passenger decided to open the door and leave the plane that way.

A recent report revealed that Air Canada is North America's most unpunctual major airline. Just 63% of its flights in 2023 arrived on time at their destination.
