New Brunswick's capital city made the list of top destinations for tourism

The editors of CNN, the world-famous American media outlet, have prepared a list of the most unobvious yet best travel destinations for 2024.

In 2023, international tourism has risen to 90% of pre-pandemic levels. That means the most popular resorts are once again overflowing with people. The editors of CNN Travel have compiled a top 24 locations from around the world that won't have pesky crowds. But there's a lot to see in these places.

Where to go in Canada?

One of these destinations is St. John, the capital of the Canadian province of New Brunswick. Most tourists travel to the country for the unforgettable scenery of Alberta, the vibrant streets of Toronto or the old city of Quebec City. However, St. John deserves attention no less than they do.

The city itself is filled with historic architecture, including the St. John City Market, Canada's national pride. Built between 1874 and 1876, it is packed with stores and restaurants. A five-minute walk away is the Saint John Arts Centre art gallery. And nearby in an old building is the Carnegie Public Library, the only one in eastern Canada.

New Brunswick's capital city also boasts beautiful scenery. This charming little town is a great starting point for enjoying the nearby Bay of Fundy, known for its highest tides in the world.

CNN also notes that the city is well suited for a wide variety of tourism: for every budget and every need for comfort. There are seaside cottages, hotels, motels, campgrounds, historic inns and B&B's. The food here is as excellent as you would expect from a Canadian seaside town, from cheap eats to fine dining.
