Canada has updated its portal with public services

The government is calling for participation in beta testing.

Service Canada is a single online portal for various government services in Canada. It provides access to social security, pension plans and many other services that allow you to check the status of your applications at any time of the day or night, or to check your benefit date. A total of 5.6 million people in Canada already have a Service Canada account.

Employment and Social Development Canada today announced an update to the portal, specifically the addition of a dashboard. It gives users a more comprehensive view of all services and available information on one page — right when they log in to their account

Minister Terry Beech is encouraging Canadians to evaluate the beta version of the update and provide feedback:

"The latest updates to MSCA are a key step in creating a fully personalized digital experience that really meets the day-to-day needs of Canadians."

According to 2020 data, over 40% of all calls to Service Canada centers are for simple requests that can be completed online:

  • 8.8% on program eligibility;
  • 9.3% for help with application;
  • 11.3% for the status request;
  • 14.2% to request payment.

You can see the new dashboard by clicking on the message about it at the top of the page. Users will be able to leave their feedback, which will be taken into account in future updates.
