Justin Trudeau discussed support for Ukraine with Volodymyr Zelensky

The prime minister and the president talked on the phone.

Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. During the conversation, Trudeau reaffirmed his unwavering support for Ukraine as it continues to resist Russia in a brutal and unjustified war.

The two leaders discussed Ukraine's needs for the coming months. Prime Minister Trudeau reiterated Canada's commitment to provide Ukraine with whatever it needs and for as long as it needs it.

President Zelensky responded by thanking Canada for co-chairing the working group on prisoners and deportees. He also expressed appreciation for facilitating the return of Ukrainian children deported or forcibly removed by Russia from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

Trudeau reiterated Canada's determination to continue to advocate for Ukraine wherever and whenever possible, including at the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation leaders' meeting, given the impact of Russia's war on the region.
