A bear made a mess in a B.C. resident's car
Unlike the car, the animal was not injured.
In Kootenay County, British Columbia, a man left his car unlocked — and an intruder took advantage. A bear got into the car, but was unable to get out. Officers from the Mounted Police Unit had to free the animal.
Very quickly it became clear that it would not be possible to open the car properly. Therefore, the owner was asked for permission to break the rear window. However, by this time the car was already in a rather poor condition.
The operation was successful, the frightened but unhurt animal escaped from the trap, leaving behind a disheveled interior and a "small and smelly surprise" in the backseat.
Incidents involving bears in B.C. communities are becoming more frequent lately. After the story about the baribal in the car, the same response team traveled to the town of Trail, where three bears had settled on the porch of a house. And shortly before that we wrote about a robbery at a gas station.
Inspectors from the Nature Conservancy are reminding residents to lock their homes and cars. They also remind not to leave garbage unattended — in most cases, it is food waste that attracts wild animals.
