New invitations for participants of Parents and Grandparents Program
People applied in 2020 should check their email.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) continues to sort through the flood of applications bombarding it for the 2020 Parents and Grandparents Program. The agency has announced a new invitation mailing that will begin October 10. A total of 24,200 letters will be sent over a 2-week period with the goal of eventually receiving 15,000 complete applications from interested sponsors.
To disappointment of Canadians looking to reunite with their older relatives, there will be no call for new applications this year, as IRCC will repeat the strategy of 2021 and 2022. The implementation of the sponsorship program (PGP) for now is to process existing applications.
We can't say that Canadians took this information with enthusiasm. The media is collecting disappointed comments from potential sponsors who have been waiting for the opportunity to apply and participate in the draw along with those who have been waiting for their turn since 2020. However, sponsors from the existing pool are unlikely to join the criticism of this approach: their chances of receiving the long-awaited news from IRCC are only increasing every year.
So those who managed to fill in the relevant forms in 2020 are recommended to check their email — it is not excluded that in October you will receive your chain letter. And those who were just about to develop a strategy for reunification with older relatives will have to wait — or seek consultation from specialists. We can help you find the right way to move to Canada.
