South African firefighters arrive in Canada
Canadians are touched by their greeting.
Forest fires continue to rage in Canada. The country manages to save people and animals, but not trees. There are very few fatalities or injuries, but vast areas of forest are suffering. In addition, toxic smoke is polluting cities.
250 fires are out of control. Canada lacks the human resources to deal with them. This is where friends come to the rescue. France is already helping Quebec, firefighters from the U.S. are coming to Canada at the behest of President Biden, and South Africa has already given a helping hand.
Two hundred firefighters from that country arrived in Alberta. They greeted their Canadian colleagues with a song and dance right at the airport. Their performance was caught on video, which was viewed by thousands of Canadians. They were very moved by the help from South Africa. The firefighters' positive attitude gives them hope.
This is not the first time South Africa has helped Canada put out fires. Seven years ago, the arrival of local firefighters already made the Canadian news. Since Canada's main problem is a shortage of firefighters, help from other countries comes in handy.
