Residents of 13 countries can travel to Canada visa-free

What states' citizens are so lucky?

On June 6 in Winnipeg, Canadian Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Sean Fraser announced that 13 more countries will be added to the electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) program. Citizens of these countries who have either received a visa to Canada in the past 10 years or currently hold a non-immigrant U.S. visa can now apply for eTA instead of applying for a visa to travel to Canada by air.

List of countries:

  • Antigua and Barbuda;
  • Argentina;
  • Costa Rica;
  • Morocco;
  • Panama;
  • Philippines;
  • St. Kitts and Nevis;
  • St. Lucia;
  • St. Vincent and the Grenadines;
  • Seychelles;
  • Thailand;
  • Trinidad and Tobago;
  • Uruguay.

The introduction of visa-free travel will make it easier, faster, and more affordable for thousands of travelers from around the world to visit Canada. Residents of the aforementioned countries will be able to travel to Canada for six months for business or vacation. The initiative will also help Canada's economy by boosting tourism and international business, and strengthen relations between the Maple Leaf country and the countries listed above while protecting the safety of Canadians.

Also, this solution will reduce the number of visa applications. This will reduce the load on the visa centers, which means that many of those who have applied for a visa will be able to get it faster.

Those who have a valid visa will be able to travel to Canada on it. People who are not eligible for an eTA, and those who plan to travel to Canada by car, bus, or ship (including cruise ships), for example, rather than by plane, still need a visitor visa.
