Best Canadian cities for young people
In 2023, they were the best places for young people to work, study and relax.
Canada has compiled a ranking of the best cities for young people. It includes a total of 30 cities. Some of them may seem surprising, but it is worth understanding that they are focused on the needs of young people. For example, a person in his 20s most likely does not need affordable day care and quality medicine — they do not yet have children and diseases that require serious treatment. Opportunities for study, internships, and career advancement are much more important at that age.
At the top of the ranking was Toronto. The city got there thanks to the best educational institutions and good employers who want to hire young employees. It is also the best city for startups and innovation, where many successful entrepreneurs are under 30 years old. Here yesterday's college graduates can find promising jobs with above-average salaries.
In second place is Montreal. There are also good educational institutions and successful companies in need of new employees, but the main advantage of the city is public transportation. Montreal has the best infrastructure in Canada, so you can get from anywhere in the city to anywhere else quickly and cheaply. Here you don't need your own car and don't feel any inconvenience.
In third place was Vancouver. It is an expensive city to live in, which not everyone can afford, but it provides many opportunities. It's a good place to build a career, play sports, and make useful friends. Finding friends and joining a community of interest is easy there, too. The city also has good libraries and co-working spaces that you can visit for free.
Next in line are the lesser-known cities. Charlottetown, the capital of Prince Edward Island, is in fourth place. It is followed by Kitchener, a town in the municipality of Waterloo. Then comes Gatineau, a city in the province of Quebec, above the Ottawa River. In seventh place is Mississauga, a city from Ontario. This province is home to most of the ranking leaders. Rounding out the top ten are Quebec City, Laval and Halifax.
