Why do Canadians love their country?

The Narcity magazine conducted a survey and got some unexpected answers.

Canadian magazine The Narcity asked its subscribers what they liked about Canada. Some of the answers were very surprising and ironic. Canadians took the opportunity to laugh at their American neighbors and say they love Canada because it doesn't have Texas. Others boasted of free health care and stricter control of guns — civilians can't buy assault rifles in Canada. The comments about guns and health care have mostly been a stone to the U.S., too.

Other commentators noted the local fast-food chain Tim Horton's. It is world famous for its doughnuts and delicious coffee. Canadian coffee aficionados are sure that for a cup of espresso from there you can live even in cold Nunavut. In general, food has been mentioned many times under this post — Canadians really love to eat, and their food is delicious. Many are happy to live in a multicultural country and can choose whether to have sushi, pizza, tacos, kimbap or borscht for lunch. Restaurants and cafes with traditional foods of different peoples are indeed plentiful in Canada.

The more serious answers were about nature, travel, and people. Canadians appreciate the opportunity to see the beauty of nature at every turn. And they don't tire of traveling around the country — after 20 or even 40 years of traveling around the country, it continues to surprise residents with new views. You can find both sandy beaches and snow-capped mountains in Canada, and that's a big plus.

Other commenters said they loved the snow, the decorated streets for Christmas, and winter sports. One wrote: "Of course, Canadians can't be surprised by snow. But I often think how lucky I am. Especially when I see how excited foreigners are to see it for the first time."

Some like Canadians themselves, both natives and immigrants. They proudly write that a walk through Toronto's ethnic neighborhoods feels like a trip through different countries. They also note the politeness, helpfulness and tolerance of their fellow Canadians. Canadians are really nice to talk to and prefer to solve problems peacefully.
