Ryan Reynolds won the hearts of Canadians with his Terry Fox marathon t-shirt design

Ryan Reynolds designed this year's Terry Fox charity marathon t-shirt, and the response from Canadians has been overwhelming.

This past Saturday, one of today's most famous Canadians, actor Ryan Reynolds ("Deadpool") published a photo wearing a T-shirt with a print paying tribute to the Terry Fox Marathon. By doing so, the actor demonstrated that this year he is actively involved in the Terry Fox Foundation's Marathon of Hope, which aims to raise donations for cancer research.

"I’ve been taking part in the Terry Fox Run since second grade and can’t think of a more enduring and lovely legacy for one person. Terry Fox inspired millions in life and death," Reynolds wrote in his post.

After a barrage of questions bombarded the Terry Fox Foundation, they were forced to make a post titled "Secret's out," in which they confirmed that they are working with Ryan Reynolds this year to design t-shirts for participants in the annual run. They will be available starting April 12, the 43rd anniversary of the start of the original Marathon of Hope.

But that didn't sit well with the Canadians, who wanted to get their hands on a Reynolds T-shirt and donate it to a good cause. So the charity was forced to make concessions and announce that, by popular demand, it would be selling T-shirts in advance for the first time in the history of the race.

Terry Fox is a Canadian cancer activist. At the age of 19, he was diagnosed with a malignant tumor and had his leg amputated. A few years later, in April 1980, he attempted a super marathon run across Canada from east to west to raise donations for cancer research. Although Fox was forced to cut the distance short by running 5,373 kilometers and died a few months later at the age of 22, his efforts raised more than $24 million. Last year, the Terry Fox Foundation grew to $850 million.
