In January, rental prices rose again

Zumper looked at different housing options and analyzed prices in 23 cities. Which city is the most expensive?

According to the published report, the most expensive rental housing in Vancouver. Prices rose another 0.4% in January. The average one-bedroom apartment costs $2,480 CAD, and a two-bedroom apartment remains at $3,500 CAD per month.

Toronto is the second most expensive place to live. A one-bedroom apartment costs $2,300 CAD and a two-bedroom apartment costs $3,170 CAD.

The third place for housing is the city of Burnaby in British Columbia. In January, the price of a one-bedroom apartment fell 1.3 per cent to $2,200 CAD, while the price of a two-bedroom home increased 1 per cent to $3,170 CAD.

In 4th place is Victoria: $2,100 CAD and $2,540 CAD. In 5th place is Kelowna, BC: $1,920 CAD and $2,270 CAD.

Ten of the 23 cities saw an increase in rental prices in January, 7 cities saw prices go down, and 6 cities saw prices stay the same.

Edmonton saw the largest increase in one-bedroom apartment prices, up 5%. St. Catharines, which is located in Ontario, saw the largest price decrease, down 6.2%. Active rental listings in Canada's most populous cities and neighbourhoods were used for the analysis.
