New climate disasters in Canada. Who was affected?

British Columbia was hit by a high tide that played out most in downtown Squamish and along the Vancouver coast.

The flooding unfolded during the daytime. Therefore, there were many witnesses to the natural disaster. Water reached businesses close to the shore, partially flooding parked cars. In one of the local stores in Vancouver, the water came to the threshold.

So far, the damage from the flood is being assessed by experts, but there are no exact figures. The flooding was caused by a mix of high tide, rain and heavy snowmelt after the greatest storm.

Despite the fact that the city authorities were warned by forecasters about the approaching flooding and closed parts of the dam in the city park, water entered the city limits.

The city authorities provided the population with sandbags so that they could at least somehow resist the elements. Also, all residents received warning letters in the mail, and all emergency responders were put on "alert.

An above-average tide is expected in British Columbia in the coming days. Authorities are prepared to deal with the elements and are ready to provide shelters for people whose homes will be flooded or damaged.

In addition to a large amount of water, huge logs thrown ashore pose a danger. In the case of strong waves, they can damage nearby houses.
