Canada has made changes to the Global Talent Stream, a program that allows Canadian employers to hire highly skilled professionals. Applications under this program are processed in just 10 days.
The Global Talent Stream provides two ways to find employment. One is suitable for unique and highly specialized professionals who have received a job offer from a company referred by program partners.
The second way has a list of eligible occupations. In December, the Canadian government added 5 new occupations to it:
- construction engineers;
- electrical and electronics engineers;
- mountain engineers;
- aerospace engineers;
- computer engineers.
The list of occupations in the Global Talent Stream may change depending on the needs of the Canadian labour market. The current update probably indicates that there is a need for engineers from abroad.
To immigrate through the Global Talent Stream, you must get a job offer from a Canadian company. The employer must apply for the program. It is reviewed for up to 10 days. The candidate then applies for a work visa; it takes an average of another 10 days to be issued.
