A job fair for Ukrainian refugees was held in a Canadian province
About 100 employers, agencies and chambers of commerce from across Saskatchewan provided information on various employment opportunities.
On November 30, the government of Saskatchewan held a job fair for Ukrainian refugees. The event was held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Saskatoon, the largest city in the Canadian province. The fair was attended by representatives from agriculture, construction, health care, hospitality, manufacturing, mining, retail, technology and transportation.
This is not the first such event in Saskatchewan. The same job fair was held earlier — on November 3 in the city of Regina, where about 90 employers from the respective regions took part.
Although the fairs were open to all new residents, the provincial government says about 3,000 Ukrainians have already arrived in Saskatchewan since the conflict began.
"The job search is an important step for all newcomers to the province as they seek to grow in and with our communities," said Minister of Immigration and Career Training Jeremy Harrison. — As the country faces challenges in the labour market, employers are looking for qualified, reliable candidates to fill these positions. These classes are of tremendous value to newcomers looking for work, benefiting businesses, communities and families."
In March, the Canadian government created a special pathway known as the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET), which allows Ukrainians to work and study in the country, providing them with temporary residency and open work permit options.
For all temporary residents arriving under the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) with a valid work permit, the Saskatchewan government has also added eligibility for the Canada-Saskatchewan Job Grant (CSJG) and Re-Skill Saskatchewan Training Subsidy (RSTS).
