Canada invests in healthy lifestyles

New funding from the government will help more residents live active lifestyles and enjoy nature.

The Canadian government continues to take care of its residents and considers it important to spend enough time outdoors, as it is good for physical and mental health. This is why Canada is investing $55 million CAD over 5 years to improve and expand the Trans Canada Trail, which is the world's longest network of walking trails.

The Trans Canada Trail is a network of trails with a total length of 28,000 km. The Trail connects 15,000 communities, 32 parks, and is within a kilometer of 30 other historic sites, national parks, and reserves. 80% of Canadians live within half an hour of some section of the Trail.

The government expects that this investment will make the Trans Canada Trail network even more convenient, as well as improve road infrastructure in communities across the country. The expansion of the Trail is also expected to attract more tourists and encourage more Canadians to lead healthy and active lifestyles. The Canadian government is heavily involved in Trail development and has invested more than $90 million CAD in the Trail since 1992.

Hiking trails are a popular pastime in Canada. In addition, the country is famous for its natural beauty.
