Canada finally lifts entry restrictions

Canada finally lifts entry restrictions

But some recommendations remain valid.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Canada has taken a number of sanitary measures to ensure the safety of citizens and foreign passengers. But as of October 1, 2022, all travel restrictions related to COVID-19 will be lifted.

Travelers will no longer need to:

  • inform about their health status via the ArriveCAN app;
  • provide a certificate of vaccination for crossing the border;
  • be tested for COVID-19 before or after arrival in Canada;
  • undergo self-isolation and quarantine because of COVID-19;
  • report the symptoms of the disease;
  • undergo a medical exam to travel to Canada;
  • wear masks on airplanes or trains.

However, the Canadian government still recommends wearing masks, even though it is unnecessary, and reminds you not to travel if you have symptoms of COVID-19.

If the person feels symptoms during the trip or flight, they should report it to the flight attendant or the border officer upon arrival. They will then be referred to a quarantine officer who will decide whether or not the person needs a medical examination.

If you entered the country 14 days before October 1 and were required to self-isolate or take an additional COVID-19 test for any reason, the requirement is automatically waived as of October 1.
