Canada loosened covid measures at the border
Another vaccine is approved, one category of passengers is exempt from COVID testing.
On April 25, some relaxations for those entering Canada went into effect.
Children under 12 years of age no longer need to be tested for COVID-19 before flying to Canada, as long as they are accompanied by a fully vaccinated adult. There are also no restrictions or self-exclusion for children, but if they are not vaccinated, they must wear masks in public places for 14 days after arrival.
Canada still randomly selects arrivals for COVID-19 testing after arrival. If you are flying with a child between 5 and 12 years old and you are selected, both you and the child will have to take the test.
Children under the age of 5 are exempt from all measures, including vaccinations, pre-flight testing, testing on arrival and quarantine.
Canada also now recognizes another vaccine, Medicago Covifenz. Thus, travelers are considered fully vaccinated if they have been vaccinated with one of the preparations:
- AstraZeneca/Covisheild;
- Covaxin;
- Janssen/Johnson & Johnson;
- Medicago/Covifenz;
- Moderna/Spikevax;
- Novavax /Nuvaxovid;
- Pfizer-BioNTech;
- Sinopharm;
- Sinovac/CoronaVac.
Everyone arriving in Canada must pre-register with the government's ArriveCAN app.
Because measures related to COVID-19 can change quickly, we recommend that you check the official Canadian website for up-to-date information prior to departure.
