Free online French courses for immigrants in Prince Edward Island

From basic French to passing the language exam for citizenship.

Two programs were developed by the Coopérative de l'integration française Prince Edward Island in collaboration with Le Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick (CCNB). In 2019, Prince Edward Island had the lowest percentage of immigrants staying in the province: of those who arrived in 2014, only 28.1% did not leave for other places. So the provincial government is willing to invest in adapting newcomers.

The first program, "French for Parents," is for those immigrants whose children attend French schools. The second, "Language Course for Immigrants in Canada," is available to all and welcomes new students all year round.

It is stated that after completing the course, it will be possible to take the French equivalent of the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) for level 4, basic language proficiency. The French test is called the Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) and also uses a 12-point scale.
