The first selections of the year and other news of the week

The first week of the new year began positively in Canada.

Immigration News

In the first week of January, Canada held two immigration drawings. 392 invitations were received by provincial program participants in Express Entry. Another 102 people were selected in British Columbia's Technical Program.

In March, Canada will begin accepting applications for the revamped Atlantic immigration program. One of the key requirements is to have a job offer. Canada conducted a study to find out which regions lead in retention of new immigrants. Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta were at the top, with about 90% of newcomers staying for at least 5 years. In some regions, the numbers are almost half as high.
