Cruise ships will return to Canada again. When will this happen?

The other day Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that fully vaccinated tourists from any country in the world will be able to visit the country from September. And here's more good news for tourists who have long dreamed of sailing on huge ocean liners calling at this country.

According to reports from official Ottawa, the Canadian government will allow cruise ships to return to its waters in early November when the COVID-19 pandemic dies down. Transport Minister Omar Algabra reported this during a press conference, "I am announcing today that cruise ships will be able to stay in Canadian territorial waters as of November 1 this year."

A little earlier, Canada had already notified that liners would not be able to appear in its waters until February 2022, citing concerns for the safety of Canadian citizens. However, Canada's federal transportation authority released a statement yesterday saying it is ready to accept cruise ships sooner than expected because the number of coronavirus cases has declined and the number of vaccinations is increasing.

The decision comes a week after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made it clear that Canada would not let unvaccinated tourists in anytime soon, despite worsening conditions in the tourism sector of the Canadian economy.

According to the Department of Transportation, the cruise industry generates more than $4 billion CAD in annual revenue for Canada, creates 30,000 jobs and is vital to the smooth operation of the tourism sector. The resumption of cruises will depend on the public health situation in Canada by November, especially in areas where cruise ships will be docked.

At the end of the press conference, Omar Algabra noted that despite the above-mentioned permit, valid for cruise ships and ocean-going vessels, the Government of Canada still advises its citizens to avoid any travel on cruise ships outside the country for fear of contracting the coronavirus.
