An Ontario neighbourhood closes schools
Students will again have to study remotely.
Ontario recently imposed a lockdown for four weeks. Due to the start of spring break on April 12, schools in the province continued full-time education, but the Peel District, which includes the cities of Brampton, Mississauga and Caledon, is moving students to distance learning due to a surge in infections. As early as April 6, all schools are expected to be closed. "Distance learning will last at least two weeks.
In addition, there will be no school camps in the area during the April break, but programs will remain in place to care for children under the age of 6.
"I understand that it will be difficult for parents, and we appreciate the sacrifices they are making as they continue to fight COVID-19 in our community," said Dr. Lawrence Lo, Peel Health Physician.
In the rest of Ontario, schools are open until the holidays, but it's not yet known if students will return to face-to-face education afterwards or if they'll also have to study remotely.
