Swiss company IQAir, which monitors the level of air pollution in the world, has published a report for 2020. According to the report, global air became cleaner in 2020. IQAir has compiled a list of 106 countries, ranking them according to their level of air pollution. In first place is Bangladesh, the country with the highest pollution scores of 77.1. In last place is Puerto Rico, the country with the cleanest air: 3.7 points.

Canada ranked 97th with a score of 7.3 on the IQAir scale. Cleaner air can only be found in 9 countries: Iceland, New Zealand, Estonia and others.

The city with the cleanest air in Canada, according to IQAir, is St. Andrews in the province of New Brunswick.

By comparison, Russia ranked 86th, its pollution score almost a quarter higher than Canada's. Ukraine ranks 43rd, with a pollution score two and a half times higher than in Canada.
