Working as a home support worker in Canada after training
Many concerned Canadians and immigrants are looking for useful and in-demand jobs in Canada. How can you get a job?
Home support workers are similar to the work of a social worker or caregiver. It involves helping the elderly or people with health problems in their daily lives.
Workers help with meal preparation, feeding, accompanying to doctor's appointments and social events, reminding about medications, doing light housekeeping, etc.
There's a shortage of healthcare workers in Ontario. So the home health workers training program is helping to reduce the shortage and provide quality education for the next generation of healthcare workers through its fee-for-service training program.
The program offers:
- 3 weeks of paid in-person training in a virtual classroom;
- 5 weeks of paid mentoring;
- $18 CAD per hour during the internship;
- part-time or full-time employment;
- teacher support and guaranteed work.
The HWS program is supported by the Department of Labor, Immigration, Training and Development's Skills Development Fund. The government provides $200 million CAD.
"As leaders in the health care system, we saw a need for our clients because of the shortage of front-line health care workers across the province," says President and CEO Leighton of CTG MacDonald. "Partnering with Employment Ontario allows us to offer best-in-class training to caring individuals who are looking for a rewarding and stable career in health care with growth potential."
The HSW training is a one-of-a-kind program that will make a massive difference across the province. Experts say Canada will need 50,000 health and care workers in the next 3 years. The CTG (a fully accredited organization) is committed to providing Canadians with the highest level of care within a wide range of home care, support and rehabilitation services.
