The most popular services among immigrants
What adaptation services people seek most often.
When immigrants arrive in the country, the Canadian government helps them blend in and adapt to their new environment as effectively as possible.
To support successful integration into Canadian society, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) funds organizations that provide adaptation services in all provinces except Quebec.
The Statistics Canada report reports that information and orientation services were the most popular services. Immigrants asked for help with paperwork, information about getting benefits and community life. The next most popular services were needs assessments and referrals. This type of assistance means that specially trained counselors explain to newcomers the main problems and mistakes an immigrant might encounter in the area of accommodation and employment, for example. They also help the immigrant to make a plan to fit into the Canadian environment. More than 30 percent of newcomers asked for this type of help.
