British Columbia will financially support its residents

85% of the province's residents will receive payments, which don't even need to be applied for – they will automatically be deposited onto their cards.

This refers to the next payment under the BC Affordability Credit program. Within this program, residents of British Columbia will receive CAD 164 per adult and CAD 41 per child, or approximately CAD 410 for a family with two children, according to information from the government. The program aims to protect the province's population from the negative effects of global inflation and allow those in need to purchase the essentials such as food, clothing, footwear, medicine, and more. The amount of the payment may seem modest compared to Canadian salaries, but it is not the only type of social support offered by British Columbia. There are several programs in the region to protect vulnerable segments of the population, and the total amount of payments made under them significantly eases the burden of life.

About 85% of British Columbia's residents will receive an additional full or partial payment starting from April 5, 2023, as was the case in January and October. If you are a resident of British Columbia and are eligible for this payment, it will automatically be deposited into your bank account provided you have filed a tax return.

"Many residents of British Columbia are facing rising living costs due to global inflation," said Premier David Eby. "Our government is taking measures to support people during these difficult times, including by paying benefits to maintain their standard of living. The third payment to maintain the standard of living in British Columbia will help people pay for essential expenses such as a trip to the grocery store or a new pair of shoes for a growing child."

"This is already the third payment to maintain the standard of living in British Columbia since the fall. During this time, the province's residents received CAD 1.5 billion," the authorities said on Tuesday.

Inflation in Canada is being combated not only through financial support for the population but also through prudent monetary policy. Read how the Bank of Canada leashed inflation.
