Man dies after shooting at Toronto's Union Station

Man dies after shooting at Toronto

A few hours later two more were wounded.

On Saturday night, Toronto police received reports of gunshots being heard in the area of York Street and Bremner Boulevard near Skotiabank Arena. Upon arrival, officers found a man in critical condition, who had died before paramedics arrived.

Two suspects fled the scene. One of them slipped away to Union Station, and the police, conducting a search, blocked it off for two hours. The other, according to witnesses, fled in the direction of Lake Shore Boulevard.

Toronto Police Inspector Paul Krawczyk reported that no one has yet been taken into custody, and hastened to reassure residents, "I want you to know that from a preliminary investigation, again very early on, it appears it is a targeted shooting. I don't believe there is further public risk at this time."

A few hours later, early Sunday morning, around 3:30 a.m., a man and a woman were seriously wounded in a shooting at an EFS nightclub.

Criminal investigations into both cases are in their initial stages and no details of the victims or suspects have been released, but police officers urge anyone with any information to contact them personally or anonymously.

It is noted that the entrances and exits to Maple Leaf Square and Skotiabank Arena from the station side will be closed for the period of inspections. The Union Station train and bus stations will operate as usual.
