Toronto airport will have thousands of job openings

A new facility is being built on the property.

A huge business jet manufacturing plant is being built at Toronto's Pearson Airport. The facility is owned by Montreal-based Bombardier and will have an area of 93,000 square meters. Construction is due to be completed in 2023. Despite a pandemic that is slowing the process, Bombardier officials say work is progressing as planned.

When the plant opens, it will feature the most advanced aircraft production processes. It is planned that it will produce up to 100 aircraft per year.

The Greater Toronto Area Airports Authority, which oversees Pearson Airport, expects the new facility to create about 3,000 jobs. Bombardier now has more than 68,000 employees and facilities in 28 countries. According to the Authority, the Pearson Airport site is the second-largest job concentration area in Canada. Before the pandemic, it employed 49,000 workers in Ontario.
