Three mega-vaccination centres open in Toronto

For now, immunization is only available to seniors over the age of 80 and essential workers.

On Monday, March 8, Mayor John Tory announced that three "mega centers" to vaccinate the public will open as early as next week. That's two weeks ahead of schedule.

Three mass vaccination sites will open Wednesday, March 17. They are located at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Scarborough Town Centre and Toronto Convention Centre.

Vaccination points will be open seven days a week from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

But city officials expect Toronto may eventually open nine 24-hour mass vaccination clinics, but that will depend on the availability of doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

At the moment, mass vaccination appointments are only available for residents over the age of 80, and details of how to make an appointment will become available in the next few days.

According to Ontario's vaccination schedule, seniors under the age of 80 and key workers will start getting vaccinated in early April.
