In Calgary, a woman was murdered right outside a school building

The police are already investigating.

A woman was killed Tuesday morning outside John Costello Catholic School in Strathcona Park in southwest Calgary, Alberta. The woman's death, which occurred around 7:30 a.m., has already led to the launch of an investigation by local police.

Not much is known about the incident yet, but it appears that law enforcement authorities believe the killing was premeditated. Parents and guardians of the students have been told about the incident. The police report emphasizes that neither students nor staff members were at risk.

Victim and perpetrator

Calgary Police said that during the investigation, the suspect was found already dead in the vicinity of the crime scene and there is no danger to the public at this time. The incident is said to be a domestic incident and the names of those involved are being withheld for privacy reasons.

The incident has left parents in shock. Kristi Yalbri, the mother of one of the students, expressed concern about the proximity of the murder to their home:

"I like to refer to Calgary and the area that we live in as a pretty benign place."

Due to the incident, the school was closed for the day and parents were asked to take their children home. The Calgary Police Service was on hand the entire time and confirmed that all students and staff were safe.
