Man killed in Vancouver airport shooting

There has been a string of shootings in the city that are still going on.

There was a shooting outside the departure terminal at Vancouver International Airport on Sunday, May 9. Police have confirmed the death of a 28-year-old man.

Sgt. Frank Jung of the Joint Homicide Task Force said the victim is known to police to be gangster Carman Grewal. Law enforcement speculated the shooting was related to a conflict between criminal gangs.

An SUV with at least two occupants was seen at the scene. The pursuit of the vehicle ended with the perpetrators opening fire. No police officers were injured. A short time later, police discovered the burning vehicle in Surrey, about 28 km from the airport.

Over the past few weeks, a series of shootings near malls, restaurants and on busy streets around Vancouver have resulted in deaths or injuries. Last week, a correctional officer was killed. According to police, what happened had all the hallmarks of a gang attack.

Sgt. Jang is very concerned about overstuffing in public places.
