Vancouver will become even more attractive to residents and tourists

The government is allocating money to beautify the island.

The Canadian government is investing in British Columbia. According to the authorities' expectations, the renovation of public spaces should attract new tourists and stimulate the local economy.

Harjit Sajjan, Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Minister responsible for the Pacific Economic Development Agency of Canada (PacifiCan), presented the press release. He announced more than CA$ 2.6 million for as many as 16 projects on Vancouver Island and the coast. This includes more than CA$ 1.9 million for 15 projects funded by the Tourism Relief Fund and CA$ 750,000 for one project funded through the dedicated Canada Community Revitalization Fund.

This single national project will be a public park and meeting place in the city of Comox. Details have already been outlined: a playground, a gazebo, restrooms and a summer kitchen. It will be the first outdoor meeting place for the indigenous K'omok people living here.

The rest of the improvements will be spread across different communities on Vancouver Island, and include endeavors ranging from a zipline in Sooke to a motel renovation in Port Alberni. The region will also buy new buses, invest in museums and parks, renovate toilets and parking lots and upgrade hiking trails.

All of these plans are part of a 10-year plan for Canadian community-based tourism development, so it won't be long before they are realized.
