Canada makes an extraordinary move in sports

And protects the rights of players and referees on the football field in the run-up to the 2026 World Cup.

In 2026, Canada will host the FIFA World Cup alongside with United States and Mexico. Tourists and fans of the beautiful game will travel from country to country, and as always, it will be a true triumph and unity of nations.

Perhaps Canada will make a huge and even revolutionary contribution to the event. The World Cup will only take place in three years, but already now the whole country is preparing for this.

What can Canada contribute? Very simple: Ontario Soccer requires referees to wear special cameras on their chests to record everything that happens in front of them. It's not a big deal, as there are so many referees: a referee, two assistant referees, a fourth official, and additional assistant referees.

However, the decision is simple, because it would document any abuse, insults or displays of hatred during matches across the province.

Why did they come up with that?

Last year, unfortunately, there were outrageous cases. Sometimes referees were insulted and chased to the parking lot with threats. These are real cases, and the camera will allow protecting officials from any kind of abuse.
