WestJet strike called off

WestJet strike called off

At the last moment, the company management went to the pilots.

Good news: The collapse of air travel in Canada is off. WestJet pilots will not go on a planned strike. At the last minute, the airline's management went to the union and agreed to meet all demands.

Pilots' salaries will be raised and the company will sign long-term contracts with them. This is not the first time Canadian unions have succeeded in getting labor improvements for their members.

This Friday, 1 800 WestJet pilots were about to go on a 72-hour strike. This would have had dire consequences — the company is the second largest in the country and a couple of million Canadians were going to use its services. Queen Victoria Day is approaching, a long and beloved holiday when everyone goes on a short vacation or flies to visit relatives.

WestJet previously canceled 111 flights between May 19 and 21. It is likely that some of them will now be restored, and tickets for them will be available at a discount.
