One of the best universities is about to receive major funding

The Canadian government invests in strategic research at Dalhousie University.

Dalhousie University is located in Nova Scotia, on the far eastern part of the Canadian coast. The rugged and atmospheric landscape, steeped in the Celtic roots of the locals, makes this area of North America more like Ireland or Scotland.

Founded in 1818, the university has 13 academic departments and programs from acting and filmmaking to business, economics and engineering.

The university's commitment to discovery leads to more than CAD 190 million in annual research funding. Dalhousie is also part of a group of Canadian U15 universities engaged in world-leading research and innovation, including laboratories, studios and fieldwork.

The independent university ranking by The Higher Education puts Dalhousie 61st in its world universities ranking. And according to "employability" indicators, the University ranks in the top 10 in Canada.

"Dalhousie understands that humanitarian crises are occurring worldwide and cause unique challenges for students. We are committed to assisting students in these situations, including asylum-seekers, refugees, and other learners who have been forcibly displaced due to reported persecution, violence, conflict, human rights violations; political instability, weak governance, and state repression; or natural hazards, disasters, and man-made environmental crises," says this statement published in the admission section of the university website.

Parliamentary Secretary Andy Fillmore and Minister of Immigration Sean Fraser have recently announced an investment of more than CAD 154 million in Dalhousie University. This funding is part of a CAD 1.4 billion investment to support 11 large-scale research initiatives. On April 28, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, François-Philippe Champagne, announced it.
